SHIPPING

SHIPPING!

First of all...WHAT THE HECK IS SHIPPING?

Shipping is a term used in fandoms or fanbases; shipping or ship comes from the words relationship. I like to call shipping the art of putting two or more characters together, willing with all your soul (in most cases) for a romantic relationship between them.

Everybody ships. EVERYBODY. Except the hipsters.

Shipping has various stages...usually you start with "Awe they look cute together" and you end up in "WHAT IS LIFE ASDFGHJKLÑ CAN'T YOU KISS ALREADY OH MY GOD I WOULD SELL MY SOUL TO SEE THAT"

Pretty much.

The reason why I call it an art is because shipping leads to fanart and to fanfictions and headcanons and etc etc. Shippers are hardcore. Though shippers may seem an useless wreck of emotions there is ONE RULE YOU SHALL ALWAYS REMEMBER AND FOLLOW WHEN SHIPPING:

NEVER EVER INSULT SOMEONE'S SHIP.

It doesn't matter if their ship is a) Canon or b) The most improbable sh** to ever exist in the world.

Rule number two of shipping:

If more than one person ships it then it is a ship.

Rule number three:

Don't criticize someone's OTP. If they kill you, it's your own fault.

Rule number four:

The one thing you don't do is start shipping wars. NEVER.

But something that I'd like to clarify is that shipping isn't exclusive for romantic relationships; I mean, there are also frienships, and platonics and brOTP's and OT3. Now I'll explain below.

Frienship: You just ship them as friends and usually oppose any romantic relationship. (For example I ship Armin and Eren from Attack on Titan in a friendly way. The ship is called Erearmin )

Platonic: This is a type of shipping in which the characters are so close and fond on each other that basically it could be romantic but...it isn't. (Another example is Levihan, I ship Levi and Hanji from Attack on Titan as platonics)

brOTP: Here is where the famous "bromance" applies. IT'S NOT CALLED BEING GAY. This kind of ship is when you ship them in a buddy/brotherly way, I recommend watching the BROMANCE MUSICAL. (I ship Percy and Jason as my main Bromance and I don't know the name of the ship)

OT3: It's a ship that involves 3 people. (I don't have an example for this one...)

However there is also another classification for ships and it's an obscure one...it is called the NOTP. A NOTP is a ship you despise with all your soul and that, if given the opportunity, you would throw to the pits of hell so it wouldn't see the daylight again. (I won't talk about my NOTP's because I respect every ship)

Now, the most important ship of all the shippers THE OTP. OTP stands for One True Pair, it's that ship of yours that you love with everything you have. It's your favourite ship. It's the ship of ships. It is as a shipper's number one priority in life. You can have more than one OTP obviously. The persons who only have one OTP are shipping amateurs.  (*RIVETRA INTENSIFIES* My OTP is Rivetra= Levi+Petra)

Shipper slang:

Shippers speak an universal language that you should know if you want to understand what we are saying...because I don't think you would actually understand me if I talked like this.

OMG I CAN'T EVEN DID YOU SEE THAT IT TOTALLY HAPPENED IT'S SO CANON I MEAN THIS SHIP SAILS ITSELF AND IT WILL BE SAILING TONIGHT JUST LOOK AT MY BABIES NO NO ASDFGJKL.

So...back to the shipping slang.

Feels: These are the children of satan, they are horrible evil things that consume your life and leave you as an emotional wreck without any purpose in life.

asdfjkl: It's when you can't even form a coherent thought or word. It is a keysmash and it could be good or bad.

MY BABIES: They are the world to you, the most important characters in the world.

I CAN'T: It can have variations that usually include swearing. It simply means that you lost your ability to can.

Wow f**k you a**hole: Means I love you or f**k you.

NOPE: Let's pretend that didn't happen.

This ship sails itself: Do not question it, it sails itself.

Right in the feels: They've hurt you right where it hurts the most. DANGER DANGER.

What can I say? I didn't choose the shipping life, the shipping life chose me.
